I have LOTS to post about, but I just wanted to make a quick post before I forgot...
My mom came to visit me last week and we had a blast! I'll post something more in-depth a little later this week, but I had to share info about one eatery (yes I said eatery).
I've been hearing about this place called Batter and Berries for a minute, and we finally had the chance to go. This cute spot is located in Lincoln Park, so I figured the clientele would be...Lincoln Park-ish. Boy was I wrong. We arrived at about noon on a Saturday. The line was outside the door! That didn't shock me as much as WHO was standing in the line-- NOTHING BUT BLACK PEOPLE. WHHAAAAT....I didn't see that coming. Where did all these people come from?! What a refreshing sight! Anyway, fast forward...the food was amazing. Well, most of it was. I got the French Toast Flight, which was 5 different flavors of french toast...lemon, blueberry, strawberry, caramel, and (the seasonal flavor) pumpkin. AH-MA-ZING. They even make the syrups and butter in-house and infuse them with the flavors of the respective french toast flavors. I will definitely have that again. The cheesy hash browns fell a little short, though. They were a little bland and not as crunch as I thought they would be. But like I said, the spot is cute and trendy (expect to WAIT if you come during typical brunch hours...we waited well over an hour) and you will see a crowd that has surely traveled from all over the city to enjoy this food. Yum!
Hey everyone! I wanted to check in for a quick second to let you know what I've been up to. I know the wedding posts have been non-existent for a while. I can explain! While yes, the wedding is still on, something else has been taking up my time and attention--buying a house! I'm pleased to announce that I just purchased my first home yesterday. Yay! It's been a long process and it's far from over. Now that I've purchased the house, we will need to start the renovations. The renovations may take a couple of months and we won't be moving into the new house until they are done. I'll be visiting the house this weekend to take some "before pics." I plan to document the whole renovation process. More to come. Anywho, after the renovations are done and we're moved into our new home, the wedding planning will resume. Needless to say, we made the adult decision to push back the wedding to Spring of 2019. That way, we'll have more time to plan...
Dope! A coworker of mine is flying her husband out to The Chi (do they still say that out there?) for a surprise getaway trip in March. I'll be sure to tell them about this place. Did the eatery serve the syrup warm or was it room temp? Ima syrup snob and prefer mine to be warmed up a smidge haha.
ReplyDeleteThe syrup was warm! And tasty! Sorry for the late reply...I hope your coworker had a blast!
ReplyDeleteIt's ok. And they didn't make it. Her husband works for PG&E and they had mandatory overtime. She had to eat the money for the plain but not the hotel though. Thanks for your response.
